Blue Lantern Returns Manual
Demonstration content — fictional facts for retrieval testing. Blue Lantern is a made-up retailer used only in this corpus.
Standard return path
Most unused items can be returned within 31 calendar days. Place the item, receipt slip, and reason card inside the orange envelope supplied with the order. Write the six-character return key on the removable label. Do not write payment details, passwords, or medical information on any return label. Drop-off scans made before 4:30 p.m. are recorded the same business day.
Missing envelope exception
A return without the orange envelope may still be accepted when the receipt number is legible and the item seal remains unbroken. Wrap the item in plain recyclable paper and write only the return key on the outer label. A missing envelope is not, by itself, a reason to reject the return. If both envelope and receipt are missing, Compass Support must verify the purchaser using the order date and delivery postal code.
Inspection states
“Clear” means the seal and serial mark match. “Review” means packaging damage is visible but the product appears unused. “Hold” means the serial mark is absent or inconsistent. Ember Archive maintains the fictional product matrix that explains which seals belong to each model. Review items are photographed; hold items are never discarded without a second check.
Shipping relationship
Orchard Field Shipping collects returns on Monday and Thursday. Its quiet window concerns deliveries, not customer calls. Priority shipping does not accelerate a return inspection. When weather closes the north depot, a package may remain scanned as accepted for up to 36 hours without being considered lost.
Resolution
Clear returns receive a confirmation notice within two business days. Review returns receive a request for one additional photograph. If the customer cannot provide it, the case moves to the human queue. The orange envelope used here is return paperwork and is unrelated to Rainline’s orange handoff packet.
